Peace

Peace.

Peace is a tricky thing.

Once I attain this I’ll find peace.

Once I do that I’ll find peace.

After I finish this I’ll find peace.

If I could only _____.

I’ll find peace.

Peace.

We took a drive down a country road.

Past peaceful red barns nestled in between corn fields underneath an ever-changing Autumn sky.

We came across a quaint little apple store,

that had absolutely nothing to do with computers.

We saw pastures full of grazing cows.

Who were in no hurry.

No hurry at all.

So we too were in no hurry at all as we drove down the winding roads.

That meandered,

and swayed,

past the charming churches that seemed frozen in time.

That drive was enchanting and relaxing. I could feel my stress and internal mindless chatter melt away with each mile. But funny enough, I also found myself a bit envious of those cows, corn fields and quiet country roads…

so quiet,

so tranquil,

so peaceful.

As the cityscape came into view I could feel my mind winding back up as I tried to attain peace by planning to do this and finishing that.

The quiet, tranquil, peacefulness vanished in a thought.

I yearned to be back on those country roads.

Recently I came across this…

“Peace.”

It does not mean to be in a place

where there is no noise, trouble

or hard work. It means to be in

the midst of those things and still

be calm in your heart.”

Isn’t it amazing how something so simple can speak so loudly?

May the peace be with you,
