DIY wreaths made with scarves are a cozy way to embellish your home during the winter months. They cost next to nothing and take minutes to put together.
I’ve been up to some winter fun around here! I decided jazz up my January by setting the scene for a festive warm-up dinner after some outdoor winter fun. During the next few weeks I’l be sharing decorating ideas, DIY projects and delicious recipes, that will melt away the cold and warm up your heart as well as your home. The first easy and festive project is this DIY wreath made out of scarves.
I decided to hit the thrift shops and found the most beautiful wool scarves and sweaters for my winter party at only a couple of dollars a piece. I bought a few foam wreath forms from my local craft store and then went to town. All I did was wrap the scarves around the foam, (which actually worked beautifully because the wool stuck to the foam so it didn’t slip).
Then used these floral pins (that have pearls on the end), to adhere the scarf to the foam. They were perfect.
A couple of the scarves had tassels on each end, but no worries! Just tuck them in before sticking in the pins!
Isn’t it just as cute as can be!?
Here are a couple of the other scarf wreaths I made for my winter fun party! I just love all the textured lines in this one.
And this one is so soft and etherial.
(You can take a sneak peak in the mirror to get a glimpse of the fireplace and mantle decorations. I’ll be sharing those next.)
Here are the supplies you’ll need to make DIY wreaths made with scarves ::
- foam ring from your local craft store (choose any size you like)
- scarf (choose any type or color that tickles your fancy) I found all of mine at a local thrift store.
- floral pins that have a pearl at the end (I found that these worked the best to affix the scarves because the pearl at the end kept the scarf secure)
- yarn or ribbon to hang your wreath
DIY wreaths made with scarves. So easy, so darling and cost so little! I can’t wait to show you the rest of my winter party details! Hope you’ll come back for the fun!
Stay warm and cozy!
