You wouldn’t believe how easy and fun it is to put together a kiddie cocktail bar for Halloween. Enchant the children with Halloween drinks served in glass science beakers, that actually foam & froth as they create their very own spooky concoction.

Halloween Drinks For Kids Kiddie Cocktail Bar

Kiddie Cocktails have always held a sweet spot in my heart. It all started with my beloved grandmother, who would make sleepovers at her house a festive and fabulous occasion. As my sister and I would lounge in a bubble bath with bubbles so high they practically touched the sky, my grandmother would prepare special snacks and kiddie cocktails in fancy-fish etched glasses downstairs. As we sashayed down the stairs all squeaky clean in our pink nightgowns for an evening of Lawrence Welk, she would serve us our semi-adult refreshments and as we sipped happily our evening would begin. Those were the days.

However… these Halloween drinks that are inspired by the cherry-juice-mixed-with-lemon-lime-soda kiddie cocktail, are so much more fun and fabulous! (Sorry grandmother!)

It all begins with some packets of Kool-Aid®.

That are added to some lemon-lime soda.

Causing instant color not to mention a bubbling and foaming reaction that no doubt would make Dr. Jeckyl grin mischievously from ear to ear. A quick swirl of a straw makes the bubbles even more intense.

These Halloween drinks are positively concoction like!

Talk about a squeal inducing experience! Even my 2 teenage daughters found glee in the Halloween drink making.

I added some sugar to the Kool-Aid packets when setting up my kiddie cocktail bar to make the flavor a bit less intense. Interestingly enough, the Kool-Aid powder doesn’t have much color until it mixes with the liquid, adding yet another surprising delight to its drinkers.

I’ve found that the little Halloween drink makers enjoy experimenting with more than one of the flavors and colors. As they should. That’s the whole point right? The color/flavor combination possibilities are endless!

Homemade Hot Chocolate

Who likes hot chocolate?

Me too.

Let’s face it. There’s just no better way to warm up a frosty winter’s day than to wrap your hands (and mouth) around a cup of pipping hot chocolate.

Absolute bliss.

But I have a question for you… have you ever made your own hot chocolate?

Me either.

Until recently.

You see my sister has this dear friend Amy, who happens to be a fabulous cook, and who was sweet enough to send me some of her scrumptious homemade goodies last year including a lovely jar of homemade hot chocolate.

I couldn’t believe that one scoop of this unassuming powdered hot chocolate, added to a cup of hot water, could be so incredibly glorious.

Needless to say I needed the recipe.

And let me just tell you that isn’t very often my hand holds the cup of anything but my beloved coffee. But after putting my lips up to this sweet and creamy, velvety and chocolaty, decadent hot chocolate, I simply can’t help myself.

Indulging in this deliciousness seems almost criminal.

Sometimes I even plop a dollop of marshmallow fluff on top.

And you know what? Before the fluff even has time to melt, my mind has forgotten all about the cold and dreary, and finds itself enveloped in the sweet and creamy dreamy.

And that’s what a cold winter’s day should be all about anyway, dontcha think?

(Please don’t tell my coffee.)

Here’s the yummy recipe…

Homemade Hot Chocolate
Creamy, silky, hot chocolate that will melt your cold winter day into a sweet indulgence!
  • 1 – 8 quart box of instant dry milk
  • 2 lbs Nestle Quick
  • 1 – 16 oz jar non-dairy creamer
  • 1 – cup powdered sugar
  1. Mix all of the ingredients together in a very large bowl. Mix all dry ingredients until evenly incorporated.
  2. To serve :: Pour a pipping cup of hot water into your favorite mug, and 1/3 cup of the hot chocolate mixture. Stir until creamy. Slowly sip. Enjoy!
Store in a sealed container.[br]This hot chocolate makes a great gift when divided up into glass jars! That is if you can stand to part with it!

Tickled Pink Raspberry Spritzer

It’s officially the first day of summer at our house which means…

long lazy afternoons chasing butterflies…

countless hours spent slathered in suntan lotion while hanging at the local pool…

lemonade stands…

Popsicles that melt down your arm before you can eat them…

dusty Jeep rides to the cabin….

early morning Farmer’s markets gathering fabulous fresh fruits and vegetables…

pitch black bottoms of feet…

and staying up late and getting to sleep in.

And ya know what? We are all just tickled pink about it! In celebration of the occasion I whipped up this fun little drink. I was inspired by these gorgeous raspberries that I spied at the market.

I decided to make a fun fizzy sweet treat that would tickle our tongues as well as our tum and welcome in the smoldering days of summer with a refreshing sparkle.

This is what I did.

I made some raspberry pink lemonade.

I just love to cool off with lemonade on a sweltering hot day.

Wouldn’t you just love to jump in and swim around for a bit?

Next I added some berry juice. Any berry juice will do.

And for the final touch and sparkle, a little effervescence to make it feel like a special occasion,

I added some sparkling raspberry seltzer water…

that just screams celebration doesn’t it?

It’s summertime.

Sit down,

put up your feet for a spell,

and enjoy a moment of sweet and sparkle.

You deserve it!

Tickled Pink Raspberry Spritzer
(serves 6-8)

4 cups Raspberry pink lemonade
1 cup berry juice (I used Juicy Juice)
2 cups sparkling raspberry seltzer water

What to do:

* Pour raspberry pink lemonade into a pitcher.
* Pour in berry juice.
* Add sparkling raspberry seltzer water (be sure to add right before serving to ensure proper effervescence).
* Stir and serve over ice with a few fresh raspberries.
